Creative Commissions of Places, People, Animals and Cherished Moments

I create bespoke commissions in a variety of mediums, carefully chosen to suit both the subject and the client’s vision. Working closely with each client, I produce deeply personal artwork and illustrations inspired by beloved animals, treasured homes, meaningful places, landscapes, seascapes, and special life moments. Pieces can be created from photographs or, for local clients, through personal visits to capture the perfect view or composition. I also design personalised wedding and celebration invitations, and can incorporate hidden names or messages within paintings and ink drawings, creating artwork that is both beautiful and uniquely meaningful.

The Process

  • 01 Initial Creative Consultation

A friendly and informal consultation to discuss your ideas, subject matter, preferred style, colour palette and choice of media, helping shape a commission that feels personal and meaningful.

  • 02 Reference Photography & Inspiration

Reference photographs can be provided by you or, where possible, taken by the artist to help capture the atmosphere, detail and character of the subject accurately.

  • 03 Choosing the Artistic Approach

Guidance is offered on the most suitable media, composition and artistic approach to ensure the finished artwork reflects both the subject and the intended mood of the piece.

  • 04 Agreeing the Timescale

A realistic timescale will be discussed and agreed depending on the size, level of detail and overall complexity of the commissioned artwork.

  • 05 Securing the Commission

A materials deposit is required to secure the commission and begin the creative process, with the remaining balance payable upon completion of the artwork.

  • 06 Copyright & Reproduction Rights

Copyright remains with the artist unless otherwise agreed. Reproduction and usage rights can be discussed openly as part of the commission process.

Crafting Your Commission

The time taken for each commission depends on the detail, complexity, and character of the piece. Some artworks evolve quickly, while others require many careful hours over several weeks. For artworks intended for special occasions, allowing plenty of time helps each piece be created with the care and attention it deserves.

Clear & Thoughtful Commission Agreements

Every commission is thoughtfully created around your ideas, whether as an original artwork, bespoke cards, or beautifully illustrated invitations. Framing and Giclée prints can also be arranged for selected pieces. From the very beginning, all details, costs, and reproduction discussions are shared openly, creating a collaborative, and personal experience with no hidden surprises.
